Where can Singaporean/Malaysian citizens apply for a Tibet Entry Permit?

According to the regulations, foreign tourists visiting Tibet (such as those from Singapore and Malaysia) need to apply for the Tibet Entry Permit through a qualified local travel agency in Tibet, China. Individuals cannot apply for this permit by themselves. Tibetan travel agencies will arrange qualified tour vehicles, guides, accommodations, and submit the travel plans to the relevant authorities

.30Submit complete travel itineraries and documentations 30 days prior to departure. (The travel agency requires preparation time for the application. It's suggested that travelers provide colored scanned copies of their passports and Chinese tourist visas at least 35 days before departure.) Different registrations with respective authorities are needed based on the itinerary. Expect notification to pick up the original Tibet Entry Permit around 5-7 days before departure. Completion of the process is only upon obtaining the actual Tibet Entry Permit

Foreign tourists are not allowed (such as those from Singapore, Malaysia, the UK, the USA, etc.)

Tourists from China, Hong Kong, and Macau can arrange for car rental tours with only the border pass

In general, altitudes above 3000 meters can lead to altitude sickness.

  1. Xinjiang: Tourist areas in Xinjiang generally have lower elevations, such as Urumqi (with an average altitude of 800 meters), Sayram Lake at 2072 meters, and other regions with altitudes ranging from 200 to 1000 meters. Therefore, except for traveling to the Pamir Plateau at an altitude of 4000 meters, most parts of Xinjiang are not considered high-altitude areas, and tourists do not need to be overly concerned about altitude sickness issues.

  2. Tibet: Altitude sickness may occur when traveling to Tibet, but as long as ordinary people follow the advice of consultants and get enough rest before departure, it will usually disappear in a day or two. If symptoms are severe, you can take appropriate medication or avoid strenuous exercise according to your doctor's advice to relieve symptoms. In addition, you can also start your tour from the Nyingchi area, which is at a lower altitude in Tibet.

Altitude sickness is manageable; consult a travel expert before visiting high-altitude areas in Tibet or Xinjiang.
