Tibet every yearApril to June is the period leading up to the rainy season.Rainfall is relatively low during this period, peaking in late June and early July with heavy rainfall. The rainy season in Tibet generally ends by the end of August each year, and temperatures during this time are very comfortable, unlike the warmer temperatures in inland areas. Choosing this time to visit Tibet is an excellent way to escape the summer heat. It's worth noting that the rainy season in Tibet is generally characterized by sunny days and heavy rain at night or in the early morning, so it doesn't significantly affect daytime sightseeing and photography. However, during periods of heavy rainfall, landslides and mudslides can occur on many roads in Tibet, particularly along the Bomi-Ranwu section of the Sichuan-Tibet Highway. It is advisable to avoid driving through Tibet during this period if possible.
When searching for information online, I found that some websites said the rainy season in Tibet would not end until September, which is false information.
The rainy season in Tibet is actually based on the Tibetan 24 solar terms, generally starting in late June or early July, but it doesn't actually last until September. Therefore, many tourists choose to travel to Tibet in April or May, and in September, to avoid the peak of the rainy season.
Therefore, we recommend that the best time for tourists to visit Tibet is from April to October each year, avoiding the rainy season in July and August when traveling to Linzhi, Bomi, and Ranwu.
